The Old Globe seeks qualified applicants for a full-time Assistant to the Costume Director. Under the direction of the Costume Director, the Assistant to The Costume Director is responsible for administrative tasks, accounting, and production-related assignments in support of the daily activities of the costume shop. 

This position is responsible for the tracking, entry, balancing, and updating the costume shop ledger; balancing petty cash; processing detail reports for monthly reporting; preparing and submitting use tax reports; processing department credit card reconciliation spreadsheets, assuring accuracy and complete inclusion of tax and receipt information; creating weekly FedEx reconciliations; and the timely communication of department financial transactions to the finance office.  

Other responsibilities include posting schedules and notices, answering phones, shipping and receiving packages, maintenance requests, stocking offices supplies, maintaining shop calendars, creating labor and show reports, training employees on time recording for payroll, creating/updating production charts, making costume staff program updates, safety information entry, planning safety meetings, and maintaining shop contact lists. 

Qualified candidates should demonstrate knowledge of theatrical productions, costumes, clothing and computers. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook required, Microsoft Access, Power Point, and Adobe Photo Shop Elements a plus.  

Successful applicants should be organized, self-motivated, be able to work with a wide range of personalities, be adept at problem-solving, and attentive to details. Must also be able to quickly adapt to a changing work environment and manage competing demands. Employee will be required to stand, walk, crouch, and sit for long periods of time, have excellent vision (color, close and distance), and lift up to 35 lbs. Workweek is Tuesday-Saturday, typical hours: 9am- 6pm, overtime may be required. 

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by October 1, 2021 or apply for a medical or religious exemption. Must be able to complete and clear a background screening. Hourly rate is $20.60. Benefits include vacation, health insurance, paid holidays, theatre tickets, and free Balboa park admissions.
