LEAD DRAPER/TAILOR
Under the direction of the Costume Supervisor, the Lead Draper/Tailor serves as a key member of La Jolla Playhouse’s Production Department Staff. This position works in a fast-paced and detail-critical environment. The Lead Draper/Tailor works with the Costume Designer, Costume Supervisor, First Hand, and Stitchers to pattern costumes, conduct fittings, supervise the construction of costumes and guide the process of alterations and notes through the costume work floor for all assigned La Jolla Playhouse productions. The strongest candidate is an artist, technician, and leader committed to the artistic vision, mission and values of La Jolla Playhouse.

FIRST HAND
Under the direction of the Lead Draper/Tailor and Costume Supervisor, the First Hand serves as a keymember of La Jolla Playhouse’s Production Department Staff. The person occupying the position works in a fast-paced and detail-critical environment. The First Hand assists the Lead Draper/Tailor and Overhire Drapers with costume builds, fittings, and alterations from the build start date through opening for all assigned La Jolla Playhouse productions. The First Hand, in conjunction with the Lead Draper/Tailor and the Costume Supervisor, takes a secondary role in communication with Designers, IATSE Wardrobe personnel, Production Management, and La Jolla Playhouse Management to ensure successful execution of all designed costume elements. The strongest candidate is a skilled technician and artist committed to the artistic vision, mission and values of La Jolla Playhouse.

COSTUME ASSISTANT
Under the direction of the Costume Supervisor and Production Manager, the Costume Assistant serves as a key member of La Jolla Playhouse’s Production Department. The person occupying the position works in a fast-paced and detail-critical environment. The Costume Assistant works in conjunction with the Costume Supervisor and Resident Costume Design Assistant to support the Costume Designer in achieving their artistic vision, facilitate efficient work flow on the costume shop floor, and track show related expenditures. The Costume Assistant takes an active role in communication with Designers, IATSE Wardrobe and Costume Shop personnel, Stage Management, and La Jolla Playhouse staff to ensure successful execution of all designed costume elements. The strongest candidate is a skilled designer and artist with excellent organizational skills who is committed to the artistic vision, mission and values of La Jolla Playhouse.
